The brief

Arabic search needs clear query controls, predictable normalization and results that remain understandable when filters narrow the collection.

02

The approach

Madar stores the catalogue in D1 and searches it through parameterised SQL. Arabic diacritics and Alef variants are normalized; AND, OR and NOT combine terms.

03

Try it yourself

  1. Search Arabic titles and subjects, including alternate Alef forms.
  2. Combine two terms with AND, OR or NOT.
  3. Filter by collection and year; reject an inverted range.
  4. Page through results and inspect a record’s metadata.
  5. Verify a no-results query and the parameterised SQL implementation.
04

Implementation & handoff

One hosted interface connected to its actual search API, with collection and year filters, 12-record pages, result counts, detail views and validation tests.

05

Taking it live

The search engine, Arabic normalisation and filters are the core. For a client archive we ingest your collection — including OCR for scanned documents and full-text indexing — and put it behind your access rules.
