The family wanted a house open to the sea without being overlooked. We placed the living spaces upstairs to frame the horizon, and wrapped the patio with two walls that cut the west wind.
Deep overhangs shade the south facades and cross-ventilation runs north to south, so air conditioning is only needed on the hottest August days.
